Very cool! Feels very polished and nice to play. Reminds me a bit of old flash-era "puzzle" games (Robot and Kitty, etc). I got to the key-card, then over-extended and died :/
For a jam game, I would tend towards leniency for the player. Maybe let them respawn instead? I don't see the value in permadeath for a jam game (where you usually have less of the players attention).
